It is hard to be positive after the defeat at Old Trafford - especially as I think we did not deserve much and could have lost by more.
The man who saved us at two crucial stages of the game from a worse defeat was Szczesny.
He produced two excellent saves on Rooney and Anderson which denied the hosts a more emphatic win. I think a bigger defeat would have demoralised the side considerably.
Szczesny was also superb on crosses. A near-faultless display, which should earn him a place in the team ahead of Fabianski, who let us admit it has not been outstanding during his spell in the side.
Szczesny deserves his chance and I do not care how young he is. He is good enough and he showed his mettle today.
The worst thing that Wenger could do to him is to demote him at the expense of Fabianski as the latter is not better than him.
Szczesny should be given the opportunity to prove himself before the January transfer window - if he delivers we have a new number one. If he does not, then Wenger has to splash the cash for a proper keeper.
