Szczesny  8 One of our only positives. Says a lot that we get beaten but still have to thank our keeper for it. Was thrust into the action due to Fabianski’s injury but what a game for your Premier League debut. A game full of confidence where he confidently came in for crosses in the first half and made two vital saves to deny Rooney and Anderson. The Rooney save was an absolute superb one. A couple of poor distributions but very solid throughout.

Clichy 5 Started the game well but made too many mistakes. Gave the ball away many times and was at fault for their goal. Also gave away the customary Manchester United penalty - albeit a harsh decision but he was still at fault. Lucky that Rooney missed his penalty that would have killed the game.

Squillaci 5.5 One of his better displays but still not good enough. Managed to be at fault for Park’s goal where he got beaten too easily with a soft header. A true liability but in line with Arsene’s tradition of signing crappy French central defenders (Cygan, Sylvestre, Garde) I dread that we will see him at this club for many years.

Koscielny 5.5  The better of the two French summer signings but today he showed his limits at this level. Battled hard throughout the game but struggled to contain Rooney and the number of times that the ball went through the middle of central defence was unbelievable.

Sagna 6 The best of a poor back four who strived to get forward many times but did not have too much success tonight.

Arshavin 4 This chap is either hot or cold - today he was the latter. Not in the game at all and looked out of pace throughout. The only mystery for me is why he stayed on the pitch for so long - he should have been substituted a long time before.

Song 6.5 Good engine in midfield and he helped the central defence many times. Had he not been here this could have been a massacre. However, he is not great going forward where he makes too many mistakes with his final ball.

Wilshere 6 Some classy touches and at the centre of things as he tried to instill urgency in the side in the second half. However, his performance was too littered with mistakes throughout where he would pass straight to the opposition. I think he is also taking a battering in midfield but this will improve him greatly next season.

Rosciky 5 I never saw him in the game and I was very surprised to see him in the line-up in the first place. Seems unable to cope with this kind of opposition despite a positive first half.

Nasri 5.5 Marked out of the game by a serious Manchester United wall and could not find any space to lead the game as he can.

Chamakh 6 I really thought he did okay as he was starved of service throughout the game. But while he cannot do anything if he does not get support from his midfield, I think he should be praised for the way he defended. Two or three corners were not headed away by the defence but by him.
