Great spirit does not mask weaknesses
Our fourtnight from hell was about to take a turn for the worse as West Brom took a 2-0 lead with just thirty minutes to go. The lads produced a remarkable come-back which may well go and save our season, but no amount of positive spin can hide some of the weaknesses in our squad on display today.

You expected Arsenal to be fresh and focussed before the game , having had a full week off. But conceding a goal like this so early really rattled us.

And then came the Almunia howler. What on earth was he doing there ? It looks like the mere presence of Jens Lehmann has traumatised him and he looked like that haunted man again, not the confident keeper we saw last week at Old Trafford.

I was willing to back him but if Lehmann is fit, Wenger will no doubt drop Almunia again.

As for Denilson, he has played for me his last 45 minutes for the club. Awful but he was there by default not by choice as we had five midfielders out (Fabregas, Song, Diaby, Walcott and Rosicky). He is still a squad player though and he should take responsibility when on the pitch. While Lansbury keeps on scoring at Norwich and Denilson continues to disappoint, Wenger has to take his own conclusions there.

The fighting spirit in the last twenty minutes was excellent though. Arshavin´s stunner rallied the troops and when van Persie bundled home, the lads played with a confidence they have not shown for the past couple of weeks.

We should have won it in the last five minutes but I would have taken 2-2 at the hour mark. But it still does not hide the fact that we should never have been 2-0 down to the Baggies anyway. And with United winning in the last minute, we are now five points behind.

We do have a game against them and a game in hand, so all is not lost but we cannot keep on dropping points.
