Carlos Vela will sign on loan for WBA until the end of the season.
What appeared to be a straight fight between Valencia and Bolton was finally won by Di Matteo's personal call to Arsene Wenger.
Vela favoured a move to Spanish giants to Valencia, which was understandable.
But Wenger insisted that he moved to a Premier League side and that is a sure sign that he considers him in his long-term plan.
A move to Valencia would have had the option of a permanent transfer in June.
In the end, Wenger thought that WBA would offer more first-team opportunities than Bolton and it could be another wise decision by Arsene.
A sign also that the Cahill deal (if anyone still had hopes!) is well and truly off.
