Has a second-placed manager ever been under such pressure?
Arsene Wenger is the second most consistent manager and the second longest serving manager in Premiership history. He is only behind Sir Alex Ferguson who happens to be the most successful manager ever in English football.

Wenger has led his club to seven major trophies in eight years. The next six years (coinciding with a tightening of transfer budget while moving to the Emirates) has still seen the club in the Top 4 every year.

This year, the club was in one final and got beaten in the Champions League by probably the best team in the world right now. They got eliminated at Old Trafford but I am pretty sure that United beats everybody there.

We are second in the league and if we win our game in hand we are top of the league.

Yet all you hear is how Arsene Wenger has lost the plot and needs to go. Some of the media are even saying that we should replace him with a British manager and some are even asking for a numpty like Allardyce who has won zilch in his career.

Some are laughing because he said that he will try his best in every competition we are in (interpreted in the downmarket tabloids as: "Wenger boasts he will win quadruple).

Excuse me, but what else was he supposed to say ?

Is Dirty Harry still not currently claiming his Spurs can win the league? Despite being an amazing 12 points behind the leaders?

Why are the media not ridiculing Dirty Harry for his boasts?

Why did United get a quiet week from the media despite losing at Chelsea and Liverpool in two consecutive games? Why is there no mention that United have won just the four games away from home and have not beaten Chelsea away in NINE years?

My point is why is Wenger being singled out for such abuse? Is it because he is French? Do the media really want us to sack our most successful manager ever and make a Hodgson-type appointment?
