Southampton have today signed our reserve keeper James Shea on loan for a month.
The Saints were in trouble after an injury to one of their keepers and needed an emergency cover.
Southampton made calls to several Premiership clubs and Arsenal were very quick to "help" by offering the highly rated Shea.
Despite the underhand tactics of Alex Ferguson to sabotage the Oxlade-Chamberlain deal in January, the Shea loan means that the Arsenal and Southampton boards are now closing in on talks to bring the young winger to the Emirates in the summer.
The player's dad himself stated that Arsenal were his preference in January but Ferguson did the dirty as usual by calling Saints manager Nigel Adkins to say that Manchester United will offer more money for him in the summer.
Ferguson also did the same thing with Charlie Adam and Blackpool. He called Holloway to say that Charlie Adam was worth a lot of money but it only stalled the talks taking place with Liverpool . My feeling here is that United will NOT bid for Oxlade-Chamberlain and Arsenal and Southampton - who already have a great relationship after the Walcott deal - will return to the negotiation table in the summer, with young Shea already evidence that Arsenal are prepared to give players on loan to Southampton when needed.
