We have known for years that Wenger's words are distorted by the media. Every single quote is twisted in what has been a concerted attack to discredit our French manager.
Yesterday, the Independent columnist James Lawton made a huge deal after Wenger claimed (according to him) that "Barcelona were the best side ever".
Lawton was so offended by Wenger's words that he seemed unaware that most of the media were in fact saying the same thing in the build-up to the game.
Of course, Arsene said that Barcelona was the best side he ever faced. A huge difference.
Even though Lawton's apology (scroll down) is rather short compared to his feature story, it is at least a start and I look forward to other journalists following his lead. Or even better, write with more honesty in the first place.
