The sight of Bebe struggling against non-league opposition reminded me how Ferguson often gets it wrong in the tranfer window.
Of course, he has been very successful and Wenger also has his fair list of flops (Mendez, Malz, Jeffers or Aliadiere comes to mind).
But the difference with Wenger is that his gambles are usually very cheap and he will rarely make a loss on a player.
Let us take a look at Ferguson's Biggest Flops:
Veron (£28.1m) Was signed for a British transfer record fee and was very disappointing in midfield for United, despite coming with a big reputation.
Bebe (£8m): Has to be up there as claims that Ferguson did not even scout him before paying a hefty sum for him makes the whole transaction look dodgy.
Forlan (£7m): Massive failure at Old Trafford even though he is proving his worth in Spain.
Djemba-Djemba (£4m): Signed as Roy Keane's successor and Ferguson even called him the "new Vieira". Had a very poor career including spells in Qatar and Denmark.
Kleberson (£8m): Another expensive try-out to replace Roy Keane, another expensive flop.
Anderson (£23m) Not a flop as such but splashing £23m for an 18 year old was a lot even by Ferguson standards. He has not been particularly impressive either although he has put in some good displays.
Hargreaves (£18m) Bayern Munich were very grateful for the huge fee for a player known to be injury-prone. Definitely a good player when fit but the problem is he is always injured and has just 27 appearances in 4 years for the club.
