The 20 year-old has impressed in recent years, and has emerged as a very bright English prospect at Everton, so understandably, the defensive midfielder has been attracting attention. However, Rodwell, who has played 23 times for Everton this season, the club he supported as a child, is emphasising the importance for him to keep his feet on the ground, and stay focused on football at Goodison Park.
"You can't really pay that [the transfer rumours] any attention, you can't let off-the-field antics affect you on the pitch so you just have to have to concentrate on your own game."Rodwell denied that it was difficult to ignore the speculation surrounding his future:
"No not at all. As long as you have got the right people around, which I have, it is easy to put to the back of your mind.
"Obviously it's flattering, but like I said I just put it to the back of my mind and I am playing for Everton Football Club and I will always give 100 per cent for them.
"I am an Everton football and I enjoy playing for Everton so I am happy to do that."He is certainly a talented footballer - strong, disciplined and a good passer of the ball, and with quality comes demand. He will certainly be swayed by interest, despite his denials, as all players want to be successful and win trophies with their clubs, and he has a better chance of achieving that with Arsenal or Manchester United. Everton will do well to keep him, but at the moment, his commitment is admirable.
