Bendtner and Chamakh deliver at the right time

I thought before the game that we needed either Chamakh or Bendtner to step up to the plate now that van Persie looks to be ruled out for our crucial run-in. With both of them scoring yesterday, it was a timely boost for the club as van Persie has been outstanding for us so far.

van Persie has for me (pro rata) been the player of the season with an amazing 14 goals in 14 starts. Not only he scores stunning goals but he has scored in crucial games too ( against Barcelona and in the Carling Final for example).

I did not read too much into Chamakh´s so called goalscoring drought though. He has not scored since end of November but it is good to remember that he has not started many games ever since van Persie returned from injury. He has started just SIX games out of our last 21 so I would not exactly call this a long barren spell. He has shown earlier in the season that he can score goals.

As for Bendtner, he has always been a good alternative up front. Again, some people would say he lacks goals but he does not start that many games either. And whenever he does get a run, he scores. His hat-trick was impressive and the header was the pick of the lot.

Arshavin is also returning back to form and we know he has goals in him so things are looking good as we seek to topple United.
