But as we know Arsenal usually don’t do defeats by just the one and we quickly disintegrated after the 4-0 thrashing at Old Trafford to finish third in the league.
Wenger has said himself that he would field his strongest available side and it is good to remember that United are the most likely to field a weakened side as they play Marseilles in midweek while we get a rest for once.
I would probably pack the midfield because United are always more aggressive at home as they know the ref will be on their side. Carry on fouling is their mantra at Old Trafford which has led to 13 wins out of 14 but somehow the same side only managed 4 wins out of 14 away.
The problem at Old Trafford is that the ref can kill the game just as Howard Webb awarded a penalty within forty seconds to United against Liverpool . With Liverpool still fighting, Webb duly proceeded to send Gerrard off inside thirty minutes to kill any chance they had.
Let us hope we get a fair ref and not like the one we got on Tuesday, but I am not holding my breath.
Arsene´s Likely Line-Up:
GK Almunia
RB: Sagna
CB: Djourou
CB: Koscielny
LB: Clichy
CM: Diaby
CM: Wilshere
CM: Denilson
CM: Arshavin
CM: Nasri
FWD: van Persie
But this is the line-up I would prefer:
GK: Almunia
RB: Sagna
CB: Squillaci
CB: Koscielny
LB: Gibbs
CM: Eboue
CM: Diaby
CM: Wilshere
CM: Ramsey
CM: Arshavin
FWD: Chamakh
As you can tell, I voted for a side with first team and players from the bench. But it is still able (barring silly mistakes obviously) to win the game. I would give Eboue a chance to prevent United´s attacks down their left and give Nasri a breather. van Persie & him will still be on the bench if needed (provided we are not already down to ten men and conceded 2 penalties – this is the theatre of cheats after all!)
POLL: 53% would like to see our full team out today but a strong minority (41%) would go with a mixture of first team and second team players.
