It seems the good news cannot stop this week. After the Blackpool win and the ownership issue nearing resolution, we now have two important squad members close to return from injury.
Both Djourou and Szczesny could be available in the squad for the crucial clash against Liverpool.
Even if they are not selected for the Liverpool game, they will definitely be available for our title run-in , which does not include any "easy" game anymore.
Apart from Liverpool, we also face Spurs and Manchester United in the next three weeks.
The visit at Pulis´ leg-breakers is also not something I am looking forward to. Fabregas and Walcott got injured the last time we played Stoke and they both missed the Carling Cup final as a result.
The return of Szczesny and Djourou is really a timely boost as we need as many bodies as we can if we are to have a chance to catch up Man United.
Both are extremely vital to the squad. With Almunia´s injury, we now need Szczesny as quickly as possible - even though some would argue that we need the Pole even without Almunia´s injury !
We did not have a centre back on the bench against Blackpool and we are living dangerously if ever Koscielny or Squillaci gets injured or suspended.
Djourou´s return will add stability to the defence while also allowing Squillaci to provide the cover when needed.
Things are looking up again.
POLL RESULT: 58% of you still think we can win the league- and the Blackpool result had a lot to do with it. Another poll is now available at the top right of this site.
