It is now emerging that our chief scout Steve Rowley has been tipped off by the talents of Carl Jenkinson by former Charlton manager Phil Parkinson.
The Arsenal Chief Scout has been so impressed with Parkinson that he is considering to offer him the role of chief scout for the North of the country.
The Mail (credit to them) who broke the Jenkinson story three weeks ago claim that Arsenal acted swiftly to offer a £2m compensation to Charlton in order to avoid a scramble for his signature in the summer.
Apparently, Parkinson tipped Rowley that Chelsea, Manchester United and West Ham were all preparing deals for the Finland U-21 international ( but who could still play for England).
This is the reason that Arsenal agreed the deal with Charlton despite Jenkinson being out of contract this summer.
Well, it looks like we may have a big talent under our hands after all !
It also continues the club´s recent policy of buying home-grown talents.
The Oxlade-Chamberlain deal is likely to be concluded in the summer and expect many more if Parkinson is appointed as our Northern scout.
